For Amorepacific Museum of Art at the Amorepacific Headquarters in South Korea, Leo Villareal devised Infinite Bloom, a 36 meter wide by 26 meter deep array of LED lights containing approximately 22,000 individually addressable, monochromatic LED nodes. Installed in the area above the 5th floor garden, this artwork fuses light, art, and technology in a way that is uniquely appropriate for its context within the heart of Seoul, near the River Han and facing Yongsang Public Park. Villareal integrates his work into the core of the new building with great respect for Amorepacific and David Chipperfield’s architecture. Using only white light and nonrepresentational sequences, the sculpture is elegant and restrained, seeking to harmoniously augment the building.
