Leo Villareal’s site-specific installation, Infinite Composition, at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island addresses all 30 structural columns inside the Diana Nelson and John Atwater Lobby on the east end of the Lindemann Performing Arts Center. Villareal’s work imbues life into the lobby with panels of white LEDs, which flow in an endless variety of patterns. The building’s transparent glass “clearstory”, which slices through its middle, makes the installation viewable from the street and adjacent campus grounds — aligned with the vision of leaders from Brown and REX, the Lindemann architect, to welcome a broad diversity of community members into the life of the building.
